Daimler consulting with Ford about 3-cylinder engines
In fact, this success has caused other automakers
to take notice, and according to Automotive News Europe, Daimler is now talking to Ford about this engine for use in its own products.
In other markets, Ford offers the 1.0-liter mill under the hood of the Focus (we had the chance to sample this package on our home turf), as well as the B-Max MPV. For this new collaboration, Daimler would use the turbo-three in the next-generation Smart ForTwo, as well as the Renault Twingo, which the German automaker will be collaborating on as part of its alliance with Renault-Nissan. Speaking to AN, a Mercedes-Benz engineer called the 1.0-liter mill an "interesting and impressive engine."
In exchange for details about the EcoBoost inline-three, Daimler will supply Ford with information regarding its Euro6 stratified lean-burn gasoline engine, which is found in the new E-Class sedan.
This isn't the first time Ford has collaborated with Daimler and Renault-Nissan about powertrain development. Earlier this year, the companies said they would all work together on hydrogen fuel cell development, with a plan to introduce a hydrogen powertrain by 2017.

Ford Insider: 2015 Mustang EcoBoost to pack 300hp, GT gets 475hp
It is no secret that the next generation Ford Mustang will arrive for
the 2015 model year and while it has long been believed that the
upcoming Mustang will pack an EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine – an unnamed
Ford employee working on the Mustang project recently told a Mustang
forum member that the EcoBoost is indeed on the way. The Mustang
EcoBoost engine will measure 2.5 liters and offer around 300 horsepower.
This same source explained that the 3.7L V6 that currently serves as
the base model Mustang engine could climb into the range of 400
horsepower while the 5.0L Mustang GT could offer as much as 475
horsepower. This information comes to us via the Mustang experts at
American Muscle via their company blog.
Now, as I write this piece I am sure that there will be skeptics who point out a lack of validity with these leaked 2015 Ford Mustang details. This information comes from a forum member who spoke with an unnamed member of the 2015 Mustang project team and that paper trail is a bit on the sketchy side but this leaked information is concrete as any other leaked information from an official source who insists on remaining unnamed and unofficial. However, these details seem to be right in line with what we have heard over the past year or so and this new information on the EcoBoost 4-cylinder mill is well within the range of realistic possibilities for 2015. It has been speculated that the Mustang EcoBoost package would offer around 300 horsepower so even an official statement from Ford that the 4-cylinder EcoBoost would pack that power wouldn’t come as a big surprise.
Perhaps the hardest piece of 2015 Ford Mustang information to swallow is the suggestion that the next generation Mustang GT will pack 475 (or more) horsepower. The current Mustang GT makes 420 horsepower and with the Chevrolet Camaro SS offering 426 horsepower, we all expected that the 5.0L V8 in the GT models would get a bump to somewhere in the area of 450 horsepower. However, 475 horsepower in the next generation GT models would give the Mustang and overpowering advantage in the battle with the Camaro. Luckily, with the high end Mustang Shelby GT500 packing 662 horsepower, there is plenty of room for Ford to increase the output of the Mustang GT without creating any real in-house competition with the GT500 super-Stang.
Should this information prove to be true when the 2015 Ford Mustang debuts, it will be interesting to see what Ford does with the 3.7L V6. This engine currently serves as the base engine and the most efficient engine in the Mustang lineup but it is widely expected that the EcoBoost Mustang will offer better fuel economy than the V6 models. The question is whether Ford will indeed give the V6 a boost in power to distance itself from the EcoBoost 4-cylinder or if Ford will have the EcoBoost 4 and the V6 offering the same power with the EcoBoost coming with much better MPGs and a bigger price tag. Ford could make the EcoBoost Mustang the base model with the best fuel economy and 300 horsepower with the V6 getting somewhere closer to 400 horsepower or both could have around 300 horsepower with the more efficient EcoBoost option serving as an upgrade to the standard V6. With this second scenario, the V6 would continue being the base engine for the 2015 Mustang with 305 (or so) horsepower while the EcoBoost 4-cylinder mill would come with an upcharge for similar power but much better fuel economy.
Again, this information could be taken with a grain of salt since it comes from a guy who met a guy but with so little information and so much speculation around the 2015 Ford Mustang – this is one more healthy dose of information to fuel the rumormill. The 2015 Ford Mustang is expected to arrive on April 17th 2014 – exactly 50 years to the day that the very first Mustang was introduced at the New York World’s Fair.

We received a 5-star review on DealerRater!
"Very friendly staff that worked with us extensively to ensure that we
left their dealership happy and with the car that we wanted (we may have
had a lot of requests!). Tony was great and wisely utilized other
salesman, such as Rich, to answer any questions that he could not
perfectly answer. Make sure you stop by and say hi to Cedric, as he is
one of the most charismatic individuals I have ever met. If you need any
help with car gadgets, such as sync, Danielle is the person to go see.
Will definitely continue shopping here in the future and we strongly
recommend going to Rusty Eck Ford for your next vehicle. Thanks again
for your help!" -- Customer

"Best sales person we have ever met. He made me want to buy a new car,
and I was excited about being at a dealership for once. Steve was very
knowlegable about the Focus and Escape that we were deciding between,
and took great care of us. Went to two other dealerships before making
the 100 mile drive and got a way better deal from Rusty Eck Ford. Worth
the drive. Thanks Steve" -- Customer

Would You Pony Up $200k For A 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302?
The automaker said right from the get-go that this track-bred beast
would only be around for a two-year model run, and it appears the Blue
Oval brand is sticking to that promise. Ford is prepping the Mustang
lineup with minor changes in 2014 so as to get ready for the revamped
2015 model.
Still, there are examples of the Boss 302 still floating around if you're in the market. In fact, one enterprising dealer in Ypsilanti, Michigan has a low-mileage 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca in his showroom. It can be yours too, if you're ready to part with $200,000.
According to Road & Track, Gene Butman Ford acquired this particular Mustang after it made the rounds as a press car. That's right, it's technically a used $200,000 Ford Mustang Boss 302, and it's been touched, poked, prodded, and pushed by ham-fisted automotive journalists across the country. The odometer shows that 4,190 miles have come and gone, so there is certainly plenty of life left on this coupe.
The asking price is certainly sky high, but taking a closer look at the numbers listed on the intake manifold states that this is car "MP 001". This may just mean that it's the first Laguna Seca plucked off the assembly line. That would help justify the price. The dealership listed the car on eBay, where it only climbed to a few ticks over $66k and failed to meet its reserve price.

Monday Maitenance Tip!
Oil is the lifeblood of all engines. Through the last several
decades, as engines have changed so has the required timing of oil
changes. What used to be a standard 3,000 mile oil change is today 5,000
miles or more, depending on the make, model and engine in your vehicle.
(Again, consult your owner's manual for details). Also, there are
different grades, viscosity or weight of oil and in some diesel engines
they require more oil than gas engines. There is research
that shows using synthetic oil can reduce fuel consumption, extend
engine life and reduce carbon emissions. Consider using it at your next
oil change or ask your dealer if it could be used in your particular
vehicle.

Ford and Detroit-Based Luxury Goods Manufacturer Shinola Celebrate 50 Years of Mustang with a Limited-Edition Watch
Only 50 companies will be licensed to create products bearing the Mustang 50 Years logo,
which was designed to celebrate the sports car leading up to its 50th
birthday on April 17, 2014. Shinola is one of the first manufacturers to
help mark this milestone.
“Mustang
is one of the greatest icons in American manufacturing history,” said
Jacques Panis, Shinola’s director of strategic partnerships. “We reached
out to Ford because we thought it makes perfect sense, as we share the
same passion for craftsmanship and domestic manufacturing.”
Bedrock Manufacturing Company purchased the Shinola trademark, first used in 1929 on a wax-based shoe polish, in 2011.
A
year ago Shinola moved into a 30,000-square-foot space in the historic
Argonaut building in Midtown Detroit. Handmade watches and bicycles are
now being crafted there. Shinola also offers other American-made
products, including an artisanal leather collection, and journals
created with paper from Michigan’s sustainable forests. In June Shinola
will open a retail space.
Shinola
opened its online shop in March 2013 debuting a limited-edition watch –
the Runwell. It was an instant hit – much like the Mustang, which
exceeded expectations and was an immediate success in 1964, its first
year of production. To date, Ford has produced and sold more than 8.5
million Mustangs.
“Like the Mustang itself, we want our licensed
products to convey an attitude of strength, passion and quality,” said
John Nens, Ford lead for global brand licensing. “Shinola embodies all
of these things and is a perfect fit to celebrate this special moment in
automotive history.”
The
50-year commemorative wristwatch exemplifies Shinola’s passion for
quality products and uses the finest materials. The quartz timepiece
features Swiss movements, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal face and
premium black leather for the band with a screw-down crown. Waterproof
to five atmospheres, the materials and design details are brought to
life by highly skilled craftspeople who bring a special expertise to
executing this premium watch.
The face of the watch features the unique Mustang 50 Years logo.

Saleen 351 Mustang Makes A Return In Prototype Form
Saleen is out to prove that it’s still a formidable force when it comes to Ford tuning, especially now that it has founder Steve Saleen back at the helm.
So what does Saleen do to make fans forget its turbulent years? Bring back one of the most iconic products from the past, of course.
That iconic product is the Saleen 351 Mustang, a new generation of which was recently previewed in prototype form and is set to go on sale later this year.
The prototype was shown at the Fabulous Fords event at Knott’s Berry Farm in Southern California, where these photos were taken and supplied to us by Mustangs Daily.
Saleen’s last 351 Mustang, sold in 1999, produced an impressive 495 horsepower. But with even today’s stock Mustang GT producing in excess of 400 horses, Saleen decided it needed something much more substantial for the new model.
As previously confirmed, Saleen decided to keep with tradition and build the car with a 5.75-liter (351 cubic inch) V-8 equipped with a supercharger, in this case Saleen’s 296 setup. This has boosted output to a heady 700 horsepower and 655 pound-feet of torque.
Saleen previously announced that its new 351 Mustang would also come with a six-speed manual transmission and custom clutch, though this prototype version appears to be packing an automatic. Perhaps both options will be available on the final version.
The rest of the Saleen 351 Mustang is sporting similar upgrades to the tuner’s current offerings, including the including the body kit, wheels and interior appointments. That paint scheme is unique, however. It’s an Orange County Orange, picked specially by Saleen himself.
